Era muito novo, tinha 4 ou 5 anos no máximo, e as lembranças de escola são as que a memória pouco se deu ao trabalho de esquecer… Talvez porque sejam elas as mais importantes da nossa vida, afinal é na escola que descobrimos mundos e nos descobrimos no mundo. Ao menos pra mim foi assim, no contato com aquele mundo acessei outros espaços. Tudo isso mediado pela presença marcante daquela que naquele momento chamava de Tia, me ensinaram assim, mesmo sem ter nenhum vínculo familiar, era algo de afabilidade e somente isso sustentava esse título tão próprio de carinho.
Minha primeira professora se chamava Hilda, nunca mais a vi, assim como também dela jamais me esqueci. Ela era uma senhora de estatura mediana, cheia de simpatia e olhar acolhedor que sabia preencher a sala com sua presença contemplando todos os seus alunos e alunas. De alguma forma isso contribuiu para nosso aprendizado. Lembro ainda que ela era uma senhora muito simples. Não me vem à memória momento em que tenha tratado com indiferença algum/a de nós, éramos muitos/as e diferentes.
Foi assim que descobri o valor (não o preço) que uma/a professor/a possui.
Minha primeira escola era o oposto da professora. Lugar pouco acolhedor, sala única – multiserial, na época nem sabia o que significava -, sem aconchego, sem amor, nem assento tinha. Todos os dias levava de casa uma cadeira maior que eu na qual sentava ao lado do meu irmão. A escola não era um prédio preparado para aulas – desses que possuem a mínima estrutura – era uma casa alugada que foi adaptada. Como era mágico aquele lugar! Como é gostoso lá retornar ainda que na imaginação!
Foi assim que descobri a importância da escola.
Tem algo que hoje entendo, naquele tempo não entendia: o que fazia uma mulher todos os dias deixar sua casa e seu filhos para se dedicar a ensinar e “cuidar” de crianças que não eram suas!? Com o tempo compreendi que aquela senhora prestava um importante serviço à sociedade. Nem ela, nem tão pouco a escola eram financiadas, tanto que passado uns tempos não mais existiu. Talvez eu e minha turma tenhamos sido uns dos poucos a passar por lá.
Como me foi importante esses momentos! Aquela escola, aquela professora…
Depois disso muitas etapas vieram: ensino médio, graduação, pós, especialização, mestrado… E em todas elas a presença mais marcante sempre foi a de um/a professora/a (não ouso citar nomes, seria demasiadamente injusto, mas todos/as eles/elas caso leiam esse relato irão se ver aqui nas entrelinhas).
Todos nós, em algum momento tivemos a importante passagem de um professor/a em nossas vidas. Até meu pai e minha mãe, que não tiveram as mesmas oportunidades e condições que eu – são trajetórias de vidas diferentes – já me narraram sobre seus mestres do passado. E contam numa comparação com os dias atuais sem esconder a saudade.
Essas reflexões me fizeram pensar de que forma essas pessoas são tratadas ao redor do mundo. Já refletiu a respeito?!
Vejamos…
A China é, de longe, o país onde professor/a é mais respeitado/a. Isso se remete a processos históricos. No Japão é falaciosa a história de que professor não precisa se curvar frente ao imperador, o soberano naquele país, mas é bem verdade que o imperador devolve o ato em atitude de respeito.
Na Finlândia a carreira de professor tornou-se uma das principais preferências entre os jovens, à frente de profissões como medicina, direito e arquitetura. Ser professor por lá é outra coisa. “O magistério na Finlândia é uma carreira de prestígio”, diz o professor Martti Mery e acrescenta “a profissão possui um alto status em nossa sociedade, que tem grande respeito e consideração pelos professores”. Foi através de uma revolução educacional, nos idos anos 70, que o país alçou as posições mais elevadas do ranking mundial de desempenho escolar.
Vale ainda refletir sobre o “ser” professor e o modelo educacional de países como: Luxemburgo, Suíça, Alemanha, Holanda, Espanha, Irlanda, Coreia do Sul, Canadá, Dinamarca e Áustria onde nessa ordem representam os 10 países em que os professores são mais bem pagos. Nota-se que na lista não aparece a China, o Japão nem tão pouco a Finlândia, países que ainda assim apresentam excelentes índices de desempenho educacional. No caso específico da Finlândia cabe então perguntar: qual seria a principal motivação de uma pessoa para se tornar um professor/a? “Respeito”, responde o educador Martti Mery, da escola Viikki. Com isso podemos concluir que a valorização do professor e do magistério passa também pela esfera do respeito.
Daria outros exemplos, no entanto acho cansativo e gosto de ser global pensando a partir de minha aldeia, no caso nossa aldeia. Por tanto, vale então, algumas reflexões sobre ser professor aqui no Brasil.
Como é “ser” professor no Brasil!?
Os professores brasileiros estão entre os educadores mais mal pagos do mundo – segundo apontou em 2014 o ranking internacional divulgado pela OCDE (Organização para a Cooperação e Desenvolvimento Econômico) a partir de dados dos 34 países membros da organização e dez parceiros, incluindo o Brasil.
Por aqui, segundo relatório divulgado pela Varkey GEMS Foundation, que faz parte da pesquisa “O status global dos professores – Global teacher Statusuma”, organização que busca melhorar a educação para crianças de países pobres e que tem o suporte do grupo educacional GEMS (Global Education Management Systems), resolveu comparar os diferentes níveis de respeitabilidade alcançadas pelos professores em cada país, sobre o nosso concluiu: o Brasil é um dos países cujos professores são menos “respeitados”; menos de 5% dos pais brasileiros iria incentivar seus filhos a serem professores; o Brasil é o país em que menos os estudantes respeitam os professores, de acordo com os entrevistados; Brasil é o país em que o professor precisaria de maior aumento para ter um salário justo; APESAR DE TUDO, BRASIL É O PAÍS QUE MAIS CONFIA EM SEUS PROFESSORES; e, por fim, o problema, para os brasileiros, é o sistema educacional.
Vergonhosamente, moramos num país onde professor/a se tornou um excelente alvo para a prática de tiro ao alvo com balas de borrachas. Foi assim em Curitiba, em Brasília, no Rio de Janeiro e em muitas outras cidades. De uma forma ou de outra o Estado adora atirar em professores, fato.
Em Santa Maria da Vitória não é tão diferente assim, as balas de borracha não existem já o massacre sim. Passados 5 meses, ainda hoje professores/as não tiveram a chance de comemorar o Natal, pois o salário de dezembro não foi pago pela antiga gestão, nem pela atual, segue em articulação judicial. A categoria reivindica o reajuste retroativo do piso nacional referente aos meses de janeiro, fevereiro e março de todos os professores e o décimo terceiro salário de uma parcela de servidores que não foi paga ainda. O resultado é a terceira greve num curto período de tempo no qual toda a sociedade sai prejudicada, principalmente os/as alunos/as.
Sociedade que não valoriza seus/suas mestres/as está fadada ao fracasso! Que não seja nosso caso!
Os professores/as, nos últimos dias, depois de ocuparem as ruas por várias vezes, fizeram aulas diferentes. Os ensinamentos tem sido públicos numa tenda instalada ao lado da Prefeitura e da Câmara Municipal onde os gestores e vereadores (nesse caso no masculino mesmo por serem homens) – os “caras” que nós e os/as próprios/as professores/as votamos e sustentamos com gordos salários, por alguns até brigamos e somos fieis mais que a Cristo -, parecem nem um pouco afim das aulas saindo pela tangente sem marcar PRESENÇA. O triste impasse segue ainda sem solução.
Ser professor no Brasil não é fácil, na Bahia tão pouco e em Santa Maria da Vitória menos ainda. Por isso escolhi essa profissão pra toda vida, é importante fortalecer as trincheiras da luta. Temos que aprender ensinando, inclusive a nós mesmos, a não repetirmos os mesmos erros. A sociedade precisa ter lado em situações como essa.
Nobel da Paz em 1984, Desmond Tutu, nos ensina que se somos neutros em situações de injustiça, teremos escolhido o lado do opressor. E, neste caso, faço uma escolha pública pelo lado dos/as professores/as e da educação sem ao menos cogitar possibilidade de neutralidade.
Enquanto um político ganhar 10 vezes mais que um/a professor/a; enquanto fizermos desses caras nossos deuses particulares; enquanto não reconhecermos neles a imagem de um servidor público; enquanto a gente não se conscientizar do poder que temos, vamos continuar a ser massacrados por tiranos de estimação.
Cuidado! Professor/a é perigoso demais, pois pode contribuir com um mundo com menos tirania.
